With its beautiful location below the cathedral and right beside the Fyris River, Uppsala Saluhall has long held a central place in the city. The original building, designed by architect Ture Stenberg, was inaugurated as early as 1909.
Svenssons Krogar has operated businesses in Saluhallen since 1997, and over the years the premises have housed several different restaurants and shops. Following a fire in 2002 that virtually destroyed the entire building, it was time for a second inauguration two years later.
Svenssons Krogar purchased the property in 2013, and since then there have been many ideas about how Saluhallen should be managed and developed. Following an extensive renovation and refurbishment of the premises in 2018, a new chapter in the history of Uppsala Saluhall began.
